Day 50... Inside Outside Circle

Today we learned about scatterplots and how to describe them.   The kids paired up and discussed the descriptions of a graph then moved to a new partner.

Day 49... Quiz Day

No picture today. .. Lots of grading though,  wanna help?

Day 48... Quiz Review

I love Station activities!   My kids love the Red Yellow Green cups.   :)

Day 47... How are you feeling?

Took a quick temperature check today on how the kids felt about yesterday's work.   Most are feeling OK but some are still needing more review.

Day 46... Speed Dating

I stole this from the wonderful Kate at f(t).  Students worked in pairs to solve Normal Probability problems.

Day 45... Round Table

Today I pulled out a Kagan strategy called Round Table.  Each student had a different problem then did step 1.  Then we rotated problems and checked the previous work before going on to step 2.  The conversations were awesome!

Day 44.. Z Tables

Today was a good day... I don't know what is different this year but the kids are really doing a great job with Z scores!

Day 43.. Empirical Rule Practice

Today was the last day before Fall Break,  so we wanted some sort of practice activity that was engaging.   Stations to the rescue!   Instead of writing on white boards,  I made answer sheets and laminated them for the kids to write on.   I was very pleased with how quickly they caught on to the Empirical Rule and I think it will make the Z Table lesson go smoothly next week!

Day 42... Z Scores

I wish it were easier to take photos of good conversations.   Today,  my kids learned about z-scores and we worked on  a problem about combining z scores to determine who was the best overall athlete.   The photo isn't very exciting but the discussions were very memorable!

Day 41... Group Exit Ticket

To check how the kids were doing on shifting and scaling,  I had them do a group exit ticket.   Each student worked the problems individually in their notebook,  then compared answers and wrote the group answer on the exit card.   Tomorrow they will get the group card back with written feedback for reflection.

Day 40... Shifting and Scaling

After our quiz today,  students worked on how adding or multiplying affects the summary statistics.   I didn't make as many connections as I should have. .. something to work on next time!

Day 39... Whip Around

I wish I had a photo for today but I don't.  We spent time today reviewing for a quiz,  and one strategy we used was a Whip Around.   I gave the students one minute to look over their notes and come up with one statement about something they've learned.   Then we made a large circle around the room and one by one,  we shared out.

Day 38... Ogives

I'm failing at the photos this week!  Today we learned about ogives, which isn't the most exciting topic in general.   I need to figure out how to spice it up next year. ..

Day 37... Sub Plans

Today I had to be out for training on our 1:1 initiative,  so I tried something new for my sub plans.   Each table has a folder with the handouts and I've used my acrylic frames to post the instructions.   So far,  I love this idea!  :)

Day 36.. Modified AP problems

We whiteboarded our warmup problem today,  which was a modified AP problem.   My students really struggled with part of it,  but I think there were some valuable discussions happening.  At least I hope so!

Day 35... One Good Thing

Inspired by a friend of mine,  I decided to try "One Good Thing" with my classes today.   I loved it!   :)  Also,  a bonus picture of a student today using thinking skills to find the median of a histogram.  I love laminated cards!

Day 34... Matching graphs

This matching card activity is one of my favorites.   I love hearing the strategies kids use to match histograms,  boxplots, and summary statistics!

Day 33... Whoops!

Move along. . There's nothing to see here.

I forgot to take a picture :(
