I stole this from the wonderful Kate at f(t). Students worked in pairs to solve Normal Probability problems.
This started as my 180 blog. Then life got busy. Now it's a combination of One Good Thing and #Teach180

Day 45... Round Table
Today I pulled out a Kagan strategy called Round Table. Each student had a different problem then did step 1. Then we rotated problems and checked the previous work before going on to step 2. The conversations were awesome!
Day 44.. Z Tables
Today was a good day... I don't know what is different this year but the kids are really doing a great job with Z scores!

Day 43.. Empirical Rule Practice
Today was the last day before Fall Break, so we wanted some sort of practice activity that was engaging. Stations to the rescue! Instead of writing on white boards, I made answer sheets and laminated them for the kids to write on. I was very pleased with how quickly they caught on to the Empirical Rule and I think it will make the Z Table lesson go smoothly next week!
Day 42... Z Scores
I wish it were easier to take photos of good conversations. Today, my kids learned about z-scores and we worked on a problem about combining z scores to determine who was the best overall athlete. The photo isn't very exciting but the discussions were very memorable!

Day 41... Group Exit Ticket
To check how the kids were doing on shifting and scaling, I had them do a group exit ticket. Each student worked the problems individually in their notebook, then compared answers and wrote the group answer on the exit card. Tomorrow they will get the group card back with written feedback for reflection.
Day 40... Shifting and Scaling
After our quiz today, students worked on how adding or multiplying affects the summary statistics. I didn't make as many connections as I should have. .. something to work on next time!
